The new Industrial Migrants Blog 14

The new industrial migrant were not  treated fairly  in the meatpacking industrial because most of them don't speak English.  Most of the worker are Mexican immigrant who do not have working paper. There living conduction are very poor they live any where they can find shelter even if they have to sleep on the floor.  One significant interest is although the basic pay is $9.25 per hour they are still lower then what is was forty years ago.  Not because they are immigrant they should not get pay for they labor the slaughterhouse employer are taking disadvantage of the immigrant they are hard worker.  If they get hurt they are not able to work any more, so the will end up doing crime.  They have a high turnover because they do not  offer better wages.  In Jamaica i an use to see my grand father killed cows and it is a very hard job and he did not have  a slaughter house he did it the old fashion way by tie the cow on a tree and kill it.  So it the slaughter house are producing more meat then they should be able to pay there work er more than $9.25 per hour not because they are immigrant.  In this time where inflation are so high how can a person make it on $9.25 per hour if they have a family or living by then self.  The government need to put a law in force that slaughterhouse to be  more dependable for the work and pay a better wages.

XXXL: Why are we so fat

                                                   Why are we so fat

According the author Elizabeth Kolbet who review of four books The fattening of America, The End of Overeating, Fat Land and Mindless Eating.  In the four books the different author have their own  idea.  That fat and oil were cheaper in eighties and the products they offer we get hick  on them because of the ingredients in them.  The article also state that David Wallenstein  came up with idea of supersizing and people do not know they own limited of how much to eat.

In the book Fat land David Wallenstein wanted to increase the sale of popcorn in his movie chain, while running special the sale did not went up so the "answer came to him on night according to the author Greg Critser of Fat Land jumbo-sized boxes so he did.

I disagree with Wallenstein because it i do not want a large popcorn of fried i am not going to purest it.  I do like McDonald's fried but only if it's hot and i don't buy a super size because i know i am not going to eat all at the same time and when it's cold i am going to throw it away and that is just wasting money i do not like cold fried.  People have to be smart about what they eat so it you do not want a super size fried do not buy it.  We all need to be more careful of what we put into our body and do not let the fast food industry dictate  to us.

In my opinion  when  going to the movie we should eat before so we are not temped to buy more because we are hungry, even driving pass McDonald we do not have to stop because we are hungry and then we will be temped to buy more like a super size that we realty do not want.

HAPPY MEALS Blog 11

                                                                    Happy Meals

1.     The author Michael Pollan tell us that we need to get back to the olden day when our grand-mother use to grow there food. Stay away from food that we don't know the ingredients and can't pronoun the name because they are highly process.  We should also avoid food product that make health claims because they are not so health after all.  We also should shop where there are fresh food and not in the supermarket  and if we do we must we need to say to the well where there is fresh food.  It is not that hard for me because i like to eat fresh food.  When i cook i can prepare more that on dish so it well keep us out of the fast food and the process food.

2.     The author state that we must  eat mostly plant and leave because they are heath for you.  plant a garden or eat at the table and not alone.  It would be hard for me because i work and after work i go to school and i do not reach home until ten o'clock at night.  I also do not have time to go to the farm market to buy fresh food because of time.  It would be hard for me to stay out of the supermarket because i work there and i always buy my food there on my way home

3.     My biggest problem would be that i don't eat a like leaves food or plant.  I cannot grow my own food because of where i live  and to have a complete meals at the table because i mostly eat on the run.  I do not have time to go fine a framer market to buy all the food i need or compare price  although they are fresher.

Blog 12 How Your Cell Phone Hurt Your Relationship

How  Your Cell Phone Hurt Your Relationship

According to the article "How Your Cell Phone Hurt Your Relationship" the author Helen Lee Lin states that  with the wide uses of cell phone it  we are not careful we can damage our relationship.   Weinstein asked a pair of people to fill out a questionnaires about an even while in a private booth with a book and a cell phone.  The pair who sat face to face were connected to each other more than the persons who were sitting close by the cell phone.  With all the different apps and things we can do on our cell phone we don't pay attention to our surrounding while sitting in a meeting or driving on a highway.  Sometime we need to turn of the cell phone so we can see the person that sit next to us that we care about.

I agree with the author Helen Lee Lin when she states that our phone can hurt our close relationship
because, we tent to ignore the person in the room and some people are insecure about their relationship.
For example i went to visit a  friend i have not see in a long time.  While i were there her cell phone rings, and with out saying exquite me she answer and start  to hole a conversation while i were sitting there.  She were on your cell phone for about an hour before she remember that i were there.  I was so hurt, that we got  into argument.  I told her that i will never come again and visit you again, because you don't know how to treat your friend that right in front of you i was not that important at that time.

I believe that we can become insecure in our relationship because of the cell phone there will be less trust, less faith and more tensions between the two companions. Now in society cell phones are always used to work out problems instead of communication. Couples may feel free enough to send a text saying it's over instead of working out the problem. One partner in the relationship will feel that the other is cheating and always stepping out on the relationship. One of the significant other might have a pass word on their phone which, the other significant  insecure might increases. They will always think the other is doing something when theirs a chance nothing could be occurring. Next the partners will have less faith than what they started in the relationship. Faith is a key concept that helps a relationship become stronger. Without faith, there will be no motivation within one another and then eventually they will break up. The tension between the two partners will be presented, one will probably always try to argue. Once the couple reached to this point usually a break up in another the corner.

In my option the author Helen Lee Lin were right when she said we can"throw our cell phone in the closet, leave it in the car" or even turn it off when we are out with friend or even on a date, because  life is too to spend so much time on our cell phone and not focus on the people in our life.

Manufactured Demand blog 10

Myth: Bottle water taste better than tap water.

I disagree that "bottler water taster better that tap water" to think about it water don't have a real taster.  Because in Jamaica  when i was little growing up i am not use to see people drinking water out of a bottle i an use to see people drink water from the tap and use it for every thing else.  Tap water were use to make juice for the house and it taste very good.  In Jamaica just drinking water from the tap was very cooled like it came out of the refrigerate and very refreshing.   We do not have to use any form of chemical in our water because it was always clean.  In Jamaica now people are drinking a lot of battle water than when i was grow up they also buy into the Myth that "bottle water taste better that tap water" it not only in America but in other country as well.   On Sunday my daughter were cooking dinner and ask if we  have any bottler to make  fruit juice and i said no, so i told her to use tap water to make the punch, but she were mad and said that tap water is no good so she went out and buy bottle water to make the punch.

Most People Do Not want Freedom

                                          Do most People desire Freedom?

I do agree that most people desire freedom; but really do not understand freedom.  freedom is the concept of begin free to make our decision preached religion and to empress our selves.  In reality we do not have freedom we have certain restrictions that must be followed if not punishment would be enforced.  We compare our to other nations as the land of the free, but in reality freedom is just a figure of speech.   People are allow to practice their religion in their home , religious places , but not in public.

Another critical is freedom or press, but people are not not allowed to write or express themselves freely.  For example, Trabic are being judge to worship their religious in stores when it just twelve o'clock .  when people desire freedom they think about many opportune to enhance themselves in the world but doesn't realize freedom come with restrictions.Yes people required freedom, but doesn't understand the consequences and the limitation of freedom.

The Man Behind the Commissioner's Rulings

The Man Behind the Commissioner's Ruling

The article "The Man Behind the Commissioner's Ruling by Harvey Araton who states that the commissioner Adam Silver of the N.B.A were force to make a discussion about the disgrace of the Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling because of the remake he make that he do not want any black
person at the Clipper game.   The mayor of Sacramento a farmer N.B.A. Kevin Johnson   talk about the growing the anger among the players and make it clear to Silver about what action to take so that the situation would not get out of control.  Once the story were out Johnson informed Silver that t only thing for Sterling is to leave the Clippers.  Johnson also found other ways to pressure by saying they would bobcats the game and James of the Miami Heat  saying that there is no room in the league for Sterling.      With social media the new were out faster then 10 years ago.   The player  have a voice and if come power.  The player were not satisfied with the first ruling  for Sterling because it was not enough and they were planning to boycotting all the Tuesday games.   They want silver to do the right thing because it was not only the Clipper issue said Roger Mason the vice president of the union and we are moving forward.  Johnson send out a lot of twitter massages and said the boycotting were not talk about with Silver, but he make the decision on is own and it were the right thing to do.  "Whether they were expectation or demand or a mixture of both was no longer the point.  the player had earned a seat at the table and in certain ways , had earn it.

She make right chance because she is no longer  doing think to please other but pleasing her self.
Instead of looking at the glass empty she is looking at  the glass full.  Because when we live our life on what people think and say we are not truly living.

Blog 3 hype

According to the article " I know the truth so don't me with facts" by the author Jeffry Kluger, people are easily influenced by rumors and lies. The university of Ohio State researchers show how false beliefs are [I don't know what you mean here] and what it take free people from them [what it takes to free people from them--those are the words from the reading; you are copying] R.Kelly Garrett an Erik Nisbet professor of  communication at Ohio state university asked 750 people of they believed on of the rumors about the Islamic cultural central and wonder if the truth would change their mind. They arrived at two conclusions 1.) that people are easily fooled in what they believed with sickness and inflammatory quotes, which affects an individual even when evidence has shown that the allegation were wrong, and 2.) that people tend to stick to their beliefs even when they learn the truth. No one likes to tell that they are wrong.

Garrett and Nisbet made valid key pointers that I do agree with. After the 9/11 terrorists attack, many Americans came up with the false belief that all worshipers of the Islamic culture are terrorists. For example, after the first few years of the attack we isolated the Arabic. Rumors concluded that even the Arabic that lived in Americans previous were apart of the attack. To take precautions the government started to group Arabic all together in one place and put them in concentration camps. Another example, " Americans started to use violence because of the rumors and the quotes, that America the land of the free became the land of self- destruction. The actions were justified as wrongful right, we were doing to another race/religion based on rumors. Instead of directing toward the individuals or the group who contributed to the attack, we targeted each and everyone that resembles the terrorists. Some perspective has changed their mind over time, but many still believed that the Islamic culture believers can not be trusted. Are we in the right do and have these wrongfully acquisitions against the Islamic culture because of rumors.[this second part is not an example, but a series of arguments]

In conclusion, humans have been deceived by rumors and lies. Researchers at the university of Ohio state said how false beliefs are and what it take to free people from them. Garrett and Nisbett recruited 750 people who reportedly believed one of the rumors they proposed. The two conclusions were 1.) people beliefs can be manipulated with pictures and quotes and 2.) fewer people were willing to reverse their positions regardless of the evidence. [this is a) too close to the original; mostly a summary of what you have said before; check the packet for how to write a different kind of conclusion]

blog 2 Hype

                                                         Hype

According to the article "Hype" by the author Kelle Lasin states that advertisement are killing and passion our mind from the time we get up until the time we lay down at night nothing but commercial hitting your brain with about three thousand marketing message a day.  There are about 12 billion ad   display, with  3 million in radio and 200,000 in TV commercial showing in north American.  Commercial advertising are moving so fast that we don't have time to waken from it.  Ads are no longer just on buses, billboards, and stadiums it every  where your eyes can see it fill with logo or product message.   Putting gas in your car, taking a drive in the country side or even at the bank machine there is a billboard with an ad  your kid also watch  Pepsi and Snickers in the classroom.   Video Carte is a company who put ad on supermarket cart so you can see them while you shop.  We cannot run or hid and no one will be spared.  In the quite of the night she can hear Beethoven's Ninth Symphony play in her head or hear the kid singing the Oscar Meyer wiener song.

I agree with the author when she said their is no place to run from the life of advertisement because a company promotes a product to a servicer. For example, the Apple I phone 5, the company advertise the product 6 months before it hit the stores. Preparing the consumers that they have it, so they will spend the money they do not have. Some wants just to be update with the latest gadget while others might actually have an addiction to always buying apple products. Secondly, some people are sleeping while the TV is on, and waking up in the middle of the night seeing the commercial being the last thing on their minds. Seeing the commercial during your sleeping patterns, sometimes lead to dreams and could always persuade an individual to purchasing the item.

In conclusion, the article " Hype" demonstrated how advertisement our killing and passing our mind from the time we fall asleep to the time we wake up continuously. Commercial advertising is an epidemic and we don't have enough time to actually take it in.  Ads are not only presented on buses, billboards and stadiums but they're everywhere your eyes may glance at .  Pepsi and Snickers are being promoted at schools
