In the article “Birth Control at 7-11” written by Juliet
Lapidos, I agree that a mandate should not be made on birth control because
everywhere you go in all stores even 7-11
are selling contraceptive. No
company should require health care insurance plans to get access to
contraception. Cardinal Dolan mentioned in the passage using religion to deny
benefits to workers would not be a good example. Although contraception are
sold in most shops, some of them are very expensive.
In today’s world birth control is wide spread form of
contraceptive that is used. No one should have to use health insurance to
obtain birth control. For instance if you don’t have any kind of insurance that
means that you would not be able to get birth control. In this present society
the young generation are sexually active. Would they want to go to their
parents and ask for their health insurance cards, no, to begin with they don’t
want their parents to know that they are having sex. So for them the safest
thing to do was go to the store and purchase a condom. I recall watching a
movie where a group a young people went to a weekend camp. James and his
girlfriend Rose was there. He so badly wanted to have sex with Rose, but her
problem was she did want to get pregnant, but it was not really a problem
because James was able to go to the store and make a purchase.
In conclusion seeing that contraceptive is widely use, I would recommend that school, clinics and hospitals offered these birth control free so that we can minimize the unwanted pregnancies in this world today. People on minimum wages that cannot afford it would be able to benefit if they are being offered free.
