Blog2: Revise Hype essay

In “Hype,” Kalle Lasn states that advertisements are everywhere, and it is difficult to avoid from toxic of mental pollants. Now a day, advertisements' increase rates are growing up tremendously in North America. We will have to start dealing with advertisements from early morning to late night until we sleep. Moreover, the author states that in these days advertisements are not only come with billboards, or on satidums but also at unusual places where a small screen at supermarket shopping carts too. Kalle Lasn is right advertisements are distract in our daily lives because it can waste our time and it can harm our society.
If I get a chance to watch movie, I would choose to watch from DvD rather than TV channels because most of the tv series and online movie pop up advertisements so many time until I feel impatient to watch them. Moreover, even when I listen to music from radio, there are a lot of commercial come after every three songs and I can't really listen to music from radio. So, whenever I want to listen music peacefully, I have to use my own mp3 player. Furthermore, getting a lot of advertisements informations can waste our time too because we will get hard time to choose. Sometime their prestantion of their products are good, but some products are not matching with their promises. If we encounter with that kind of products, we have to go back and buy for another brands again.
In addition, some time even though advertisements give us useful information, some of them will lead our children to the wrong way. The tabaco, alcohol, and gambling industries are the most toxic companies in our society. What ever they advertise is only to make profits for them they don't care who use their products or services. Once I had seen about the Malboro tabaco product advertisement, in that advertisement a cow boy was chasing a black horse with throwing a single rope. That advertisement main idea is a cow boy can solve everything only after he smoked that cigarette. If such kind of advertisement is seen by our future kids, they will imitate an inappropriate thing for their ages. More over, recently Resort World gambling buses advertisement are every where around in the manhattan. Their plan is they will advertise while they are giving service to their customers which mean their buses are running back and forth everywhere to pick up their customers, and drop off at resort.
As I have shown, there are nothing advantages for us from advertisements. They will annoy and distract our mentality.

Blog 4: The Allegory of the Cave

In Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave,” Socrates tells a story to his student Glaucon to explain that people will act rationally in their environment, if they know the truth, not only put effort themselves to know it but also “the immediate source of reason and truth in the intellectual.” Socrates create a story about the prisoners who was born in cave and chained their necks and legs not to move and look their back. They will be set up to see only shadows in their entire lives, and also they don't have a chance to know what they are seeing. After that, Socrates want to see what nature will come, so he released prisoner , and let prisoner know as what he see out side is real and what he see inside the cave was an illusion. When the prisoner was told to look straight at the light, at first he will approach to the objects see and later he will clearly see it in reality. On the contrary, Socrates states that when the prisoner is forced to look at the direct sun light, he will not see any thing which called reality. Moreover, Socrates states that if the prisoner grow accustomed in order which is let him know the shadow best, and the reflection of objects in water, and objects themselves. Last of all he will able to contemplate himself as when he see the reflection of sun in the water, he will know the real sun exists. I agree with an author that our thinking processes are rationally or not are depend on the environment where we grow up, and the intellectual reason for truth.
Mostly it is happening while parenting kids because all of the parents do not want their kids in to being in the danger. So, they always solve problems in their own ways which they think it will harm their kids. For example , some aggressive parents might hit at their kids when the kids try to reach cookie jar which placed on the top of refrigerator. In reality that parent worried about their kid will get hurt from falling jar on their head, but the kids dont know that truth, and their parents don't give specific reason, so they might think that they got punishment because of they try to reach to cookie jar. If the kids keep just like similar untruth reasons in their whole lives, their rationally thinking process will delay.
Further more, now a day most of adults are competing each other at drinking. They challenges each other as whoever drinking the most is a winner. According to dialogue of Socrates “Better to be the poor servant of a poor master, and to endure anything, rather than think as they do and live after their manner?” They don't really know the truth of good and bad, they encourage and cheer each other at the wrong things.
In conclusion, people can think more rationally, when they will grow up under right instructions, and get explain the truth reasons for what they are doing.

Blog 3 hype

According to the article " I know the truth so don't me with facts" by the author Jeffry Kluger, people are easily influenced by rumors and lies. The university of Ohio State researchers show how false beliefs are [I don't know what you mean here] and what it take free people from them [what it takes to free people from them--those are the words from the reading; you are copying] R.Kelly Garrett an Erik Nisbet professor of  communication at Ohio state university asked 750 people of they believed on of the rumors about the Islamic cultural central and wonder if the truth would change their mind. They arrived at two conclusions 1.) that people are easily fooled in what they believed with sickness and inflammatory quotes, which affects an individual even when evidence has shown that the allegation were wrong, and 2.) that people tend to stick to their beliefs even when they learn the truth. No one likes to tell that they are wrong.

Garrett and Nisbet made valid key pointers that I do agree with. After the 9/11 terrorists attack, many Americans came up with the false belief that all worshipers of the Islamic culture are terrorists. For example, after the first few years of the attack we isolated the Arabic. Rumors concluded that even the Arabic that lived in Americans previous were apart of the attack. To take precautions the government started to group Arabic all together in one place and put them in concentration camps. Another example, " Americans started to use violence because of the rumors and the quotes, that America the land of the free became the land of self- destruction. The actions were justified as wrongful right, we were doing to another race/religion based on rumors. Instead of directing toward the individuals or the group who contributed to the attack, we targeted each and everyone that resembles the terrorists. Some perspective has changed their mind over time, but many still believed that the Islamic culture believers can not be trusted. Are we in the right do and have these wrongfully acquisitions against the Islamic culture because of rumors.[this second part is not an example, but a series of arguments]

In conclusion, humans have been deceived by rumors and lies. Researchers at the university of Ohio state said how false beliefs are and what it take to free people from them. Garrett and Nisbett recruited 750 people who reportedly believed one of the rumors they proposed. The two conclusions were 1.) people beliefs can be manipulated with pictures and quotes and 2.) fewer people were willing to reverse their positions regardless of the evidence. [this is a) too close to the original; mostly a summary of what you have said before; check the packet for how to write a different kind of conclusion]

blog 2 Hype

                                                         Hype

According to the article "Hype" by the author Kelle Lasin states that advertisement are killing and passion our mind from the time we get up until the time we lay down at night nothing but commercial hitting your brain with about three thousand marketing message a day.  There are about 12 billion ad   display, with  3 million in radio and 200,000 in TV commercial showing in north American.  Commercial advertising are moving so fast that we don't have time to waken from it.  Ads are no longer just on buses, billboards, and stadiums it every  where your eyes can see it fill with logo or product message.   Putting gas in your car, taking a drive in the country side or even at the bank machine there is a billboard with an ad  your kid also watch  Pepsi and Snickers in the classroom.   Video Carte is a company who put ad on supermarket cart so you can see them while you shop.  We cannot run or hid and no one will be spared.  In the quite of the night she can hear Beethoven's Ninth Symphony play in her head or hear the kid singing the Oscar Meyer wiener song.

I agree with the author when she said their is no place to run from the life of advertisement because a company promotes a product to a servicer. For example, the Apple I phone 5, the company advertise the product 6 months before it hit the stores. Preparing the consumers that they have it, so they will spend the money they do not have. Some wants just to be update with the latest gadget while others might actually have an addiction to always buying apple products. Secondly, some people are sleeping while the TV is on, and waking up in the middle of the night seeing the commercial being the last thing on their minds. Seeing the commercial during your sleeping patterns, sometimes lead to dreams and could always persuade an individual to purchasing the item.

In conclusion, the article " Hype" demonstrated how advertisement our killing and passing our mind from the time we fall asleep to the time we wake up continuously. Commercial advertising is an epidemic and we don't have enough time to actually take it in.  Ads are not only presented on buses, billboards and stadiums but they're everywhere your eyes may glance at .  Pepsi and Snickers are being promoted at schools

examples for blog 4

"religion"
Not only my family including me, but also my relatives including my grandparents were Buddhist. One day, a female stopped my home, she asked me whether I knew about Jesus and what is Christian, and then she asked me to go her church. I was so wondering about new thing what I heard. A few days later, I followed to her church, and I listed to her about Christian. As soon as I came back home, I told my family that Jesus is the son of God, without him through, we could not go heaven, and he died of cross for our lives. They did not believe me, they asked me not to say about Christian, they asked me not to go to the church.  I totally believed that Jehovah was the only God and I said them there is no any God in the world. However, my family couldn't listen to me because they had never heard about the Jehovah. One of the biggest tradition holiday, Thanks giving, my family went to grandparents' house. When I told them about Christian, they were mad on me, and they told me that if I keep talking about Jesus and going to church, they would take my name from family's. people do not want to accept something new even if it is true.

" sexuality"

My boss, who is originally from Texas, is a gay man, but he didn't recognize himself as a gay until he came to New York City. In his first year of living in the city, he found out his sexual tendency, and he decided getting marry to his partner. When he went to his home town which is the most controvertible state, Texas, His parents, his friends, and his neighbors was about to kill him. My boss and his partner came back to New York. My boss told me he also had hard time himself the fact and he did not force his parent to understand him. Yes, it is people always have difficult adopting new one.

"Immigrants"
I have been oversea from my country more than 15years and I have been a few countries. My eye have seen a lot of things that my friends have not seen and experienced. Sometime I visited my friends and my family, I easily found out that they didn't want to accept my life which I learn from out this country. I feel many time a gap.

Blog 4: Socrates' message in "The Allegory of the Cave"

In Platos " The Allergy of the Cave", Socrates tells a story to his students Glaucon to explain that we live an unenlightened life. We live a closed life, always on the same level of knowledge. There are illusions created by our culture/ society (by those who benefit from keeping us ignorant) and we believe these illusions to be "real" "true". When we are given knowledge, we become freer of these illusions, but gaining knowledge is slow, painful process. Gradually, we become wise. When we try to explain that we have learned, what is "real" (true and right) to others, we fail because they deny or cannot understand the truth. They conclude the knowledgeable person is ridiculous, stupid or crazy-and dangerous. Seeking truth is a journey from the cave to the light, and those who have wisdom will complete this journey. I agree with the author because most of the people rather to be an ignorant then an intelligent or intellectual person, the reason is because being an ignorant is more easier, they don't have to worry about any test or memorize any chapter.

Nevertheless, that's right exists different kind of society classes, per example poor people, middle class and rich people. i believe that reason of why exists those types of classes is because there are lazy and ignorant people that doesn't want to be better and being successful in life and people that really want to be successful in life. Afterwards, im the best example here, because i when was 18 years old i decided leave my native country to come to NYC to fight for see my dreams come true  (better future), even thought i haven't achieve it yet but i know one day soon i will. There is no excuses when you really want to do something that will locate you in a better place because having knowledge does not weigh. In conclusion, we are here alive to make our lives worst or better and in order to start working on that we have to get out from the unenlightened life and start looking forward to see our dreams come true.

BLOG 4: "THE ALLEGORY OF THE CAVE"

BLOG 2 "HYPE"

Advertisements are everywhere in the world today. As stated in the reading ‘Hype’ by Kalle Lasn, the author states from the start to the end of our day we are bombarded with ads of  sales and promotion. The ads are so plentiful that our brains cannot contained them all. Lasn mentioned that ads are no longer confined to billboards, but they are now everywhere your eyes can see and where your feet tread upon. I agree with the reading that the volume of advertising can have an effect upon our lives.

I recall in the early decade as we move around we were only privileged to ads on billboard.  The ads were far apart from each other, when you travel around you could actual count the number of ads because they were so few. Now in today’s society there is much more ads and they are on a larger scale. On the road, you see ads on the buses, at the gas station, on cars etc. As you moved around and see all these ads it messes with your mind. I personally experienced the power of commercial advertising because I was drawn to the colorful and savory ads. When I migrated to the US I like any other had to use buses to get to and from school, there was an ad on the bus and I learned from that ad about a place in the city where I can go site seeing. Not being from this country I was thrilled about the opportunity and excited to go see what New York had to offer.

Although advertisement can give a lot of information, at the same time it can become harmful. It messes with our mind and sometime the ads we see, the advertiser make the ads so enticing that you are drawn to the product not that you really need it, but because you became hook on the item. Not only are the ads for adults, but also kids. My cousin Kevin came home one day from school told his mother that he saw an ad in the lunch room at school of a famous football player wearing a Jordon sneaker. He requested his mother to get him one just like that. His mother told him that it is too expensive and she cannot afford to get him one. Kevin became very disrespectful to his mother. We see the influence that the ad had on Kevin.

In conclusion ads will always be there, we cannot run nor hide from them. I think that it has both a negative and positive effect upon our lives, our minds and effects each person differently. As per Kalle it is the most powerful tool for promotion.

Blog 4 "allegory of a cave"

In plato's "The Allegory of the cave",Socrates tells a story to his student Glaucon to explain that we live an unexamined life.We live a closed life, always on the same level of knowledge ,Never being able to increase that knowledge. There are illusions are created by our culture/society(By those who benefit from keeping us ignorant)and we believe these illusions to be "real".When we are given knowledge,we become wise.Free of these illusions, but gaining knowledge is a slow, painful process.Gradually,we become wise. When we try to explain what we have learned. What is "real"(fine and right)to others,We fail because they deny or cannot understand the truth. They conclude the knowledgable person is ridiculous, stupid,or crazy and dangerous.Seeking truth is a journey from the cave of light and those who love wisdom will complete the journey.
History is a true testament to this ongoing phenomenon.Throughout time we have seen the vast majority of society accepts principles and rules put together by government and higher society.Once these rules are challenged.By a brilliant mind who thinks outside of the box,It is considered blasphemy. One such time in history that calls out to me,One of the greatest minds to ever grace this planet. With references like "Father of modern observational astronomy, and Father of modern physics,He's legacy speaks for itself.Galileo Galilei is known for all he's break through work in physics, astrology and mathematics.Through all the great discoveries he made,He is probably best remembered not for he's discovery of Jupiter's largest moons,or analysis of sunspots,But for he's stance on heliocentrism,Which is a belief that earth and planets revolve around a stationary sun. This was at a time when almost everyone believed in geocentrism.Where the earth is at the orbital center of all celestial bodies.Including the Catholic Church,Which was in charge at the time.Which found heliocentrism.False and against the beliefs of the bible. The church for-bided Galileo from advocating heliocentrism.Untamed,Galileo wrote a book defending he"s views. For this,He was tried found "suspect of heresy".He was forced to renounce he"s views and forced to live under house arrest the rest of his life.As we all know with modern science Galileo was right. If one thing history shows us is,and in regards to allegory of a cave.Majority of society lives an un examined life, and are chained in a cave. The very few that go out of the cave and see the light.Accomplish great and wondrous  things.Without fear of persecution or tribulation.

Blog # 1: What did you learn from comparing your classmates' responses to the professional evaluations? (just a short blog to get you started blogging)

It is great to see my classmates different point of views. Mostly they share similarities to the topics given, but with their own unique perspective, which makes it more interesting.Since I may check out what my classmates been working on it gives me chance to get different ideas,it also help me to get my work done.I learned that this blogging is good information wise.

Hype

In the article "Hype" the author Kate Lash talks about how Advertisements are becoming a pollution not only to America but also our brain. Advertisements are use to get people into buying products that we don't even need or don't even work. this Ads are taking over almost every usual place you visit. Kalle gives us very detailed examples of how America is getting bombarded by commercials and ads.

I agree with Lash because anywhere your eyes can possibly rest there's a logo or a product message. If you go to the mall and you have to rush to the bathroom you see the walls full of unnecessary propaganda. Even when you go to the movie theaters, long gone were the days you would watch just the movie, now you have to wait for at least six trailers and propaganda of products to finally after twenty minutes watch the movie you actually paid for.

"there is nowhere to run no one will be spared" kalle states us Americans can not do anything bout it, Advertisements are forever going to be in our eyes and technology makes it worse coming up with new and more advanced ideas on how to advertise a product, for example  when i went to Boston with my cousins we got a cab to the hotel , we noticed that the cab had a small TV in front of us which had a terrible commercial for shoes and on the side had the weather which i think is was really helpful for tourist.

In conclusion the author wants the readers to know how advertisement is taking over America with ads that people dont really pay attention to. Companies are trying to gain more money through commercials and propaganda but in reality they are loosing more money.

Hype

In the article "Hype" by Kalle Lasn, explains that advertisements are affecting us as a  whole in every way. According to Kalle, advertisement feels like mental pollutants towards the brain because they are entirely taking the control of our minds. If you go outside, you may see an ad right by a bus stop. That’s one way to show you that ads are everywhere. Kalle stresses the fact that ads can is taking over the world or already did.

What Kalle said is agreeable. It’s obvious; ads are really all on top of us. I believe the ads are all on top of us mentally, physically, and emotionally. Ads are on us mentally simply because it’s taking over our eyes. Everywhere we go, the ads are there. Ads are all over the metropolitan transportation stations. Not only the ads are taking over our mind, but we tend to try to keep up with the latest technology that was presented through the ads you see throughout the day.

Ads are on top of us physically because we go out our ways to get that six hundred dollar phone or that thirty thousand dollar car. We tend to work ourselves even harder to get that material which is insane. We want to get overtime to get that extra money or save more than you usually do to get what you want. Last, ads are all on top of us emotionally in many ways. Ads have us emotionally because materialistic items make us happy.

When we do not get that item we couldn’t get then we become upset. For example, those new Jordan’s you love are limited and are in very few stores. You tend to waste your time and wait on the line for the Jordan’s which also involve your physicality. When it’s finally your turn to get your Jordan sneakers that you waited so long for on line, and the workers in the store tells you that they are sold out, you would want to go insane which is sad.

Let’s face it; you can’t run away from ads. Ads make the world go round along with money and women which is irreverent to the article but it does make the world go round. Ads simply want to tell you to keep up with the world.

Blog 1: What did you learn from comparing your classmates' responses to the professional evaluations? (just a short blog to get you started blogging)

well, I have to say that it was a new study strategist because if we didn't understand some topic when can look at our classmates work and refresh our minds to start doing our job in our own, along that is pretty cool because nowadays that we only want to be looking on social websites would motivate us more to do our homework cause with don't have to write on a piece of paper.

blog: 2 "Hype"

In the article " Hype" by Kalle Lasn, the author says that, advertisements are affecting us like mental pollutants because they are entirely taking the control of our minds. Nowadays, every where we go there are advertisements, and even when we seat at home to watching TV we have to see commercial advertisements, The author made emphasis in advertisements because they are taking out the peaceful of our minds. Which, lead us to get stress more easier.

Nevertheless, there are positive and negative ways of advertisements. First of all, to sell any kind of product, the company has to create advertisements to show what came new to the marketing place in order to make some money. Moreover, we can get benefits from them in certain way, because will teach us about the latest advance of the technology.

Secondly, have this negative side, because there are different types of advertisements every where, which are for adults and kids. Here is when the problem starts. Because children can watch an inappropriate ads, leading them to memorize and learn things that they don't supposed to learn at their ages. As the author said " Now I hear kids singing Oscar Meyer song" when at their ages they don't supposed to sing adults songs.

In conclusion, advertisements are invading our lives and society. Even thought, companies have the right of advertise, I have to say that advertisements are affecting our society, in the way that we are not enjoying anything, because every where we go there are some ads. Making our lives stressful along with the bad influence to our kids. In order to protect ourselves and kids we should stoppage or ban against advertisements, because too much of something can be harmful for us.

blog:4 Socrate´s message in " The allegory in the cave"

In Plato´s "The allegory in the cave" Socrates tell a story to the student how unenlightened and unexamined life we live. Its a life in the cave, where everything is simple, comfortable and without the question marks ( what if? ). It´s kind of closed life where everybody is doing the same, knowing the same and acting same, in one word, non upgrading life. Pleople staying on the same level of the knowledge and never being able to grow more as they are. Sadly, that we are happy in our closed dark cave and we are not even trying to bloom. We are satisfied and we are more then sure this is right for us.Most of the time these illusions are created by those who benefit from keeping us blind and ignorant, these are society and culture.

As an Socrates trying to tell to his student ones you try the air outside the cave and will be able to see the beauty of the outside world you became different. This journey could be painful and thorny way how to became more happy and more wise by every day. But there is  no way back to the cave anymore. Why? Those who dare step outside of the cave and start the thorny way become more wise and experienced. It simple wouldn't be enough to continue life as before. They become more hungry to know more and more, which is giving them rewarding feelings. Also they would be very different from the people in the cave. They would never understand what happened, why they behave strange and why they became aliens. This people with knowledge are dangerous. Also there is a another human trait like jealousy. Ones you become smarter then the other it´s a problem. There is an example when I started a college back home few of my friends start dissuade me to begin the school. In my country even if you finish the college you don´t get a good paid job if  you get any.So they were thinking for what you need the school?? I said I need to get more knowledge because I feel that I stopped on one level and cant move forward. In this moment I saw the jealousy in their face. They realize that I´m not doing it for a money but only for myself, to grow, to bloom. This girls stays on the same level like I left and it was a few years ago.Their advise to me was find a man and make a family.Until today they think that man has to make money in the family and woman has to raise kids. So from my perspective, women can´t get any knowledge and get independent because of the old traditions??!! I wanna say that what Socrates was trying to tell  is a 100 percent true. I do see my self in this story.

In addition when Socrates was trying to explain by who are made this closed caves full of blind people, these are those people who have a benefits from our ignorance and blindness. This are the society and culture. Is no need for a change here. For the society is comfortable when we stay death and blind. There is no need to get wiser and bolder. Just stay the way we are.In considerably is only one think important for them, move the economy and work hard as an horse. As soon we get some deep knowledge and can see the thinks trough we became dangerous. In the example in 1960, when Martin Luther King (by the way, he was an doctor of philosophy) was trying defend the civil rights for the black people. He was fighting hard for their rights that´s why he became their leader. Here we can see the dissatisfaction of white people, who don´t want the black people became equitable with white people.Let say they want them in the dark cave. Which means no knowledge, no rights for the black people. White people start upheaval. For them it was an end of comfortable life where the black people have no rights they were working as an slaves for them. In the April 1968 was Martin Luther King shoot  on the balcony by a white shooter. In this example we can clearly see what can happen when we get wiser, smarter and trying to to some changes in this life, not everybody can accept this.

In conclusion I do agree with Socrates, I think everybody should step out of the fence and do your best in your life. The knowledge just make us more develop and wise. It´s for our good. This way we can only grow and germinate.

Blog 4

In Plato’s “The Allegory of the Cave,” Socrates tells a story to his student Glaucon to explain that we live in an unexamined life. In other words, we are not enlightenment; we live a closed life, unwilling to increase our level of knowledge. The illusion is created by our culture, by society and believes they are real. When we are given knowledge, we become freer from thee illusions but gaining knowledge is a slow and painful process. We become wise and when tried to return to the cave, to explain what its reality to others in the caves, we failed to explain because they cannot understand the truth. Therefore, the one who explains are the following: Crazy, Ignorant, and dangerous. It is a journey from the cave to the light from the sun. I agree with Plato when it comes to making someone understand something they haven’t seen.
For example, when you try to explain your college experience to your friends that never been to college, they will probably think your stupid because you are not like them. My friends that never been to college either think it’s a waste of time to go to college because they never wasted a minute in a college course or I am stupid enough to actually attend classes. For my point of view, I believe the crazy and the ignorant are my friends that never been to college because they never gave it a try. Jealousy can play its part because they never experience what I did which is sad. But, I always encourage my friends to start or finish college. I also agree knowledge is every powerful, well its power period. I also understand the fact that knowledge is a slow and painful process.
Knowledge is a slow process because it takes time to understand. For example, if you want to find out how to sail a boat, you need to understand plenty things such as the weather your boat about to sail in, how to maneuver the boat along with the weather, and also how to park a boat once finish sailing. Sailing a boat is a long process just like knowledge. Knowledge is a painful process because you need to make sacrifices for the knowledge you gained.
It doesn’t take a wise man to make a man wise, it takes the man himself to become wise if choose too. The experience the wise man once went through, the other may not. We all have different ways of living and learning, but if you choose to be ignorant and selfish, usually you going to be the same guy you were before. I believe it’s all mental.

compairing with other classmates' essay i can think different style of essays and ideas that i didn't think.

"I know the truth so don't bother me with facts"

Ever ended a relationship because you heard, your significant other was talking to someone else?Never played the lottery because you heard it was a scam?Or maybe you stopped eating a particular food because your friend said it would make you bald before you hit 30?If yes,It means you probably believed a lie or rumor told to you by a friend, family member,or possibly a complete stranger you sprung up a conversation with,As you went about your day. When someone makes a strong point over a topic of discussion. It leaves us with a lasting impression. We don't need to search for facts,What for? When we are presented with such a convincing proposition. We have already chosen which side to represent.[here you have a series of sentence fragments; they make it hard for the reader to figure out what ideas go with which ones]. I recently read an interesting article written by Jeffery Kruger, called "I know the truth so don't bother me with facts. In the article Mr Kluger addresses how once humans believe a rumor or a lie.It is hard to change there point of view.Even when they are proven wrong.I agree,I cannot recall how many times I've believed a rumor or a lie been proven wrong and I still refuse to change my point of view.
In the article, the author mentions a study conducted by 2 assistant professors of communication at Ohio state university,In which they take in students who believe a rumor in regards to the proposed mosque to be build around ground zero, and set out to present the students with facts on the topic and see if they would change there view on the subject. The study had troubling results,In which out of all the students surveyed.Only 33 percent were willing to change there view.Which means the other 66 percent even after being shown facts to contradict the rumor, still wouldn't change there mind. The vast majority chose to stick with the rumor.
In this paticular case the topic is all the negatives surrounding building a mosque around ground zero. Some of the negatives that I personally have heard throughout the years. Are Muslims took down the towers,It would be total disrespect to all those who perished to have the practicing religion of those responsible around the scene of such tragedy. Most people associate Islam, which is practiced by one billion peaceful people around the world with radical Islam, who interpret the Koran the wrong way,and influence and manipulate people to carry out hianuius acts like those that occurred on 9/11.I remember being in middle school a few days after it happened.I was in gym class sitting next to one of my friends and one of the students went up to him and said he was gonna beat him up because,he's people were responsible for 9/11.I remember my friend stating I'm Indian I nor my people had nothing to do with that.while other students separated the altercation.Bringing to light my own personal experience.A few years later in high school I was dating this girl for a few weeks. When one of my best friends stated she was talking to another guy.I Ended up ending the relationship on the rumor of my best friend."One thinks it's my best friend there's no way he would lie to me".Case and point turned out to be a lie.My friend ended up having a really bad crush on her.......I know something out of a tv show......right.
Everyone believes lies or rumors for many different reasons. It can be someone's ego gets in the way,no one likes to be proven wrong or look bad in front of people. It could be fear,a lot of people are afraid of the truth and what it brings it could mean change,or a lot of other things. These are just a few examples but the reasons are vast.Society will continue this trend,as will I for the countless reasons. [something missing here] Next time I'm in a debate about something and I'm being hard headed and ignorant I ll be sure to say "I know the truth,so don't bother me with facts",with a smirk.[nice last line]

BLOG 1 - What did you learn from comparing your classmates' responses to the professional evaluations

What I learned abut comparing is I was to view quite a number of essays, and was able to make comments for improvement, I thought the system was great because this is my first time working  on something like that. It is also a great source for information on how to successful write a CATW essay.

Have you ever believe in any rumors ? Does anyone has any idea what rumors can do to our society? How dangerous it can be ?  At this time, we believe in rumors and flat out lies or unverified information, even [though] we are living  in a modern society.  People has been deceived by rumors since the ancient time. In" I Know the Truth, So don't Bother me with Facts," Jeffery Klugar states that human have long been deceived and fraud by rumors and flat out lies [copying the reading]. Human easily believe in rumors but they stay their beliefs, even though they know its a lie. Ohio State University researcher conducted a study upon 750 people by two assistant professors and they found it is easy to manipulate people's belief systems with insinuating picture or inflammatory quotes and  even in the best circumstances, fewer than a third of a people were willing to reverse their position on thing, regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given. [copying the reading] I know Jeffery Kluger is right when she states that human have long been influenced and cheated by rumors because we don't really care how much proof or evidence we have for the facts of rumors to believe in it and no one like to be proven wrong.

At first, we don't really care, no matter how much proof of evidence we have about the rumors, we just believe in it without verify it. everyday in our lives, we believe in rumors; besides, we forget to verify it. we don't realize that it might be wrong, we just believe it and spread out lies. Most of the rumors spread out by different media, it might be tv, news paper, movies, or by human. whatever we see on tv or we heard from any kind of medias, we just believe in it. we think they are always right. At the present time, electronic media is one of the best medias to spread out different kind of rumors and lies because it is very powerful ; moreover, it is easy to deceive people by it. For example, during the [administration of] president W.Bush and before [the] Iraq war, all electronic media spread out rumor that president of Iraq has mass destruction of weapons and Saddam Hossain threaten the world by his weapons and we all believed in this rumors. we support him for war, but most of the people, including us, didn't verify this information about the Iraq. As a result, he went to war and we lost our soldiers and millions of Iraqi were killed, and all Iraqi structure and their freedom were demolished by us. At the end we figured out that Iraq didn't has any mass weapons. so that rumor and lies caused millions people lives and destruction, and it created many good men to a terrorist and it created more  enemies of us. We can easily realized that how bad that kind of rumors can be, and how it effects in our lives and how it spread out. we should verify and justify any kind of rumors before believe in it. [good evidence + explanation]

In addition, [What is more] no one like to be proven wrong about anything they talk and believe as a human being. To tell the truth, most of the time people wanted that as a person proves what you believe in without saying or verifying anything, even though you know that it is completely wrong. We always like to stand beside in our believe and we dont want to be proven wrong even though we get all the justified information that we are wrong in our believe of rumor. we human do it on purpose because we want to proof that we are  superior than others peoples although we know that we are in lies and we are totally wrong and we do it because some people or country has more power or superiority over other peoples and countries. For example, in our country we say that this is the country of freedom and it is established for freedom of religion. our country amendment says every one in the United States has right to perform their religions perfectly. but in my neighbor in our mosque we are not allowed to perform athan( calling muslims to the prayer)  loudly, but people are allowed to play music loudly or churches are allowed to ring the bell loudly. whenever we claim about it and ask for permission to the city, they showed us many reasons, even though they knew that they are totally wrong and they have power and they dont wanted to be proven wrong to us. we should have respect to all religions and care about their right. we should get rid of stubborn idea. Most of the time, media shows that muslims are terrorist because some so called muslim may be accused of attacking the world trade centre and till now it is not 100% proven. maybe it was a rumor by government or maybe it is something else. [Jump in ideas--you need a transitional idea here to move from prejudice against Muslims to Hitler] Hitler. Mussolini killed millions of jews and people , they were Christian , because of it we cant say all the Christian are like them or they are terrorist like Hitler. most of the time, rumors area full of lies and its proven. Nowadays many people say muslim are terrorist even though they dont have any kind of true knowledge of islam, they say because they have power and money and they dont want to be proven wrong; more over they are doing it for their own purpose and their greediness [do not leave a strong claim such as this with no evidence+ explanation].

In conclusion, i think beliefs have a big influence in our lives such as how we live , dressed, how we work, i believe that we good to have beliefs that could be supported by truth or verified facts. we always should verify the facts or any rumors because false beliefs could be dangerous for human lives , for our society and for our country.

Blog 4 "The Allegory of the Cave"

In Platos "The Allegory of the Cave", Socrates tells a story to his student Glaucon to explain that we live       unexamined life, we live a closed life, always on the same level of knowledge, near being able to increase that knowledge. They are illusion, are created by our culture society(by those who benefit-from keeping us ignorant) and we believe these illusions to be "real", "true".When we are given knowledge, we become free of these illusions but gaining knowledge is a slow, painful process.Gradually, we become wise, when we try to explain what we learned, what is "real" (true and right) to others, we feel because they deny or cannot understand the truth. They conclude  that the knowledgeable person is ridiculous, stupid or crazy and dangerous.I agree with the author because people are  afraid to fight to mix with different cultures and lazy to learn.
To begin with people are afraid to fight, to mix with different cultures and lazy to learn . All people around the world know that Greece is in an economic crisis. Two years ago my older sister who lives in Greece decided to come in New York because of unemployment. She shocked when she saw a lot of population, highways, wonderful stories, and the beautiful places in Manhattan. She couldn't adapt in American's life and culture. She wanted to go back to live easy even thought the situation in Greece was bad. My sister's example shows that some people even thought have opportunity to live and work in other development places, they are afraid to clash with the reality. They like to live in shell, like in small cities without try to learn new things around the world. They don't know and they don't like to have knowledge about development countries. They are afraid to learn and  live the new life.

In plato "unexamined life is not worth living"

The difference between human beings and animals is that human beings can think, but animals cannot. However, our lives were confined by which people already  made forms before. Thus, we do not like to accept new thing that we never experience, and they struggle and conflict with them when they get something new.  In Plato’s” the allegory of the cave,” Socrates tells a story to his students to explain that we live an unexamined life. We live a closed life, always on the same level of knowledge, were increased that knowledge. The illusion are created by our culture/ society, and we believe these illusion to be “real.” When we are given knowledge, we become free of these illusions, but gaining knowledge is a slow painful process. Gradually, we become wise. When we try to explain what we have learned, what is “real”  to others, we fail because they deny or cannot understand the truth. They conclude that the person who attain knowledge is ridiculous , stupid, or crazy.- and dangerous.  I agree with Plato when he says that people do not want to accept new concepts because people afraid of having conflict, people pretend to keep their own thing and people do not want to loose their authority.
First, Even we want to change our life, we give up the challenge because of fear of conflicting.  For example, in "Lean in" by  Sheryl Sand berg, Face Book CEO, she says our mother's generation had been treated unequally with men a long time ago. As women educated, they tried hard to get women's equality until they got. I think it was really painful challenge and hard work to get the right in that society that men really did not accept gender equality.  However, nowadays, women's lives are much easier than before because modern women stand on our old generation efforts. Sandberg says that  despite of our old women's efforts, many woman who have college degree give up gender equality, because they want to avoid conflicting between men and women. As we know men were naturally dealing with out side work, but women were the one who take care of children. When women are single, it does not matter having jobs or not. Nevertheless, when women give birth to a baby, women have to stay home and they give up their jobs. Wives do not even try to share house work 50/50 with their husbands because they do want to against this rules in which woman are for their children.  Here is my point, women are all the way to have knowledge, but they do not want to apply because they cannot  stand on the fear, so  step themselves back from the right. Thus, instead of  taking risk and having challenge, they choose peace  staying in the old culture. We learn  knowledge from everywhere, but we do not want to use it in the real world .
Second, changing one another is totally uncomfortable process. For example, Amish people still  lived without electricity, and they lived in self-sufficient society despite of inconvenience. As Plato mentions that people do not want to  change their life styles because they are so used to be the way they have lived.  Changing is not only a lot of process but also, they want to hold their culture. Also, there is no grantee that new ways would be better than before. On top of that, Amish are afraid of having other people into their community and new comers mass up their rules, and new comers challenge them. It will be pain ass for them.  Even though some Amish people got out of the town to other world, they learned new things, and  they went back to the Amish town to share new knowledge, as we see, Amish people did not accept modern culture.

Third, No one wants to be taken away their authority. For example, I think that North Korea is the one have never opened their door to the world as keeping communism. Kim jung un, 26years old, who just received the power of controlling  of the country, knows that people in the world have freedom, many countries do trades together, and many people do not struggle with food like his people. I think he may want to open his country's door to the world, but he cannot because his authority will be taken away.

Blog 3: Response to "I Know the Truth, so Don't Bother Me with Facts."

In “I Know the Truth, So Don’t Bother Me with Facts” Jeffrey Kluger states that people deny the truth when it conflicts with their beliefs. R.kelly and erik Nisbet assistant professor at Ohio State University study with people and they find out two major conflicts that people easily manipulate by facts and some of them provide confusing thoughts. However, people are stick with their believes even though they are wrong. R.Kelly Garrett is right when he argues that when people know their beliefs is wrong that time they want to stick with their believe more because of their ego, scared about new things, want to stay with their culture.

People love to stick with their ego because it is simple reason that they do not want to believe the new things. For example, many people in America they believe that immigrant are bad influence for this country because they

Blog-2 Revision of "Hype."

In ‘Hype’ Kalle Lasn States that advertisements are harmful and have bad influence in people’s mental lives. She mentions advertisements are very common in corporate America and every company has their own logo. Ads are everywhere. People can see ads when they fill their gas, there is an ads on the nozzle not only that but also when people drive in countryside they see the giant billboard near to the rood. I know Kalle Lasn is right when she states we cannot hide from ads. Where we go we will find ads everywhere because ads give us lots valuable information and essay to find what I need, it helps me to keep forward in my daily basis life.
When I search Google or other internet browser, there is good chance to see a lot of ads. Manny of them help me to find what I am looking for or what I need. For instance, there is thousand of educational information that I am watching in ads and able to compare between other things like some of college tuition are very expensive than others. In this way I able to find which colleges have affordable tuition fees.
Television play significant role in ads industry for that reason people can see new product during the show and they will find what they need. When people are watching T.V. they receive information about a lot of new things and also they learn what new items are available in the market, which product is better than others.
Ads are everywhere. When I’m in train, bus, car, I seen ads. It gives us update because in our busy society, people always busy with their jobs, study and try to do new thing for human beings so there is no time to see ads but they will see ads during the travel, sitting on the car or train. Constantly they see ads and know what is new. For example, when multimillion company release their products, they try to deliver ads everywhere like iphone. When new iphone release in the market I remember that every person I know in my family or my friend circle, they per-Oder that product before it release. I want point out again those ads helps us to give new information, people easily find their products and it keeps us update.
I hope that people understand what I point out in my essay and realize the reality and expect my explanation those who are against my opinion. One thing is certain ‘There is nowhere to run’ this is the reality in our society.

Blog 2: Revision of "Hype."

Advertisement is basically a clever marketing strategy in which a product is advertised, to the point where people begin to feel they need to consume it. The passage “Hype” shows how advertisements influence directly or indirectly in the people who are the consumers. Living in this industrialized country such as The United States is very disturbing and chaotic. Because, there are a bunch of commercials pollution floating everywhere, hence, as another consumer. I completely disagree with “Hype’ because instead in thinking that advertisements are mental pollution for our minds ,I think that advertisements are very helpful and convenience for all residents of this industrialized country.  Because of adds and commercials people get to know new stuffs and new services from companies, not only that those new products  make people’s life easier. Also advertisements create a lot income for companies and that make more jobs for people.

The United States is consider like the most consumeristic nation in the world, in addition, this country have many industries or companies that they want to let people know about their new products or services that they provide or offer. In my opinion advertisements have a good side for people because when companies advertised their product, those new products simplify people’s life. For instance my family didn’t know about “The Magic Bullet “it is a tiny blender machine that blends anything such as fruits, vegetable, seeds, ice in seconds. We found out about this because we saw a TV commercial and it is currently one of the most valuable items at home.

In spite of costing a lot of money for companies, advertisements bring a great income in retribution to them such as the commercials advertised during the super bowl, this is a transition to create more opening jobs positions. because if a company have more demand for more products , it will be in the obligation to hire more people to work for it. For instance, 12 years ago,in 2002 “Fresh Direct” was a very small company that it only started with 300 employees. Since, they started putting out more advertisements on line and also being part of the super bowl commercials. This company has growth since then.  This event made them hire more and more people above of three thousand employees, that occurrence made them hire me when I was unemployed in 2008.

In conclusion, There will always be somebody who don’t approve massive commercials such as the opinion given from “Hype” but advertisements have a lot positives effects when it comes to business and current job stability. I’m not saying that because of some commercials people can easily get hired for a company, but those advertisements make companies succeed in this competitive world. Because, advertisements get people to know about the new services and products that a new company offers. In my opinion for all these reasons explained above, advertisements are necessary for us, they are part of our life and they will be everywhere, on the other hand, we always are able to turn off the computer or TV, if we don’t want to see commercials. Or we can ignore them or turn around our heads if we have a poster or advertisement in front of us.

I Know the Truth, So Don't Bother Me with Fact.

According to the article "I Know The Truth So Don't Bother Me  with Facts" by the author Jeffrey Kluger, people are easily influenced by rumors and lies.   The university of Ohio State researches show how  false beliefs are  and what it take to free people from them,  R. Kelly Garrett and Erik Nisbet  professor of communication at Ohio State University asked 750 people if they  believed one of the rumors about the Islamic cultural  central, and wonder if the truth would change their mind.  They arrived at two conclusions: 1) That people are easily fooled in  what they believed  with sickness and inflammatory quotes, which affects an individual even when evidence has shown that allegations  are wrong, and 2) that people tend to stick to their beliefs even when the learn the truth. No one likes to tell that they are wrong.

I agree with Garrett when he said even if people take time to learn the facts it does not good because

I Know The Truth, So Don't Bother Me With Facts

I'm agree with Garrett and Nisbet because rumors can make that people be discriminate and people can start to feel fear.

Firs of all, People can be discriminate for the society. In our society people like to believe in rumors and doesn't take a time to think if is [they are] true or not. People just repeat only that just a few people [are] saying. For example after 9/11 New Yorkers didn't want to take a cap if the car was driving for a Mussulmen because people was thinking that every Mussulmen was involvin the accident in the towers. Many Mussulmen can't bring some food for their homes because they lose their jobs as a taxi drivers. People has to thinking two times before say something that maybe is not true because could be make a lot of damages.

Second, People start to have a fear. If society start to believe in rumors people can feel fear for their security and their families because they don't know how people can react [general; I do not know what you mean]Some ones could  react aggressively. Fear is the worse part because many people violates and they don't want to say anything about the advantage that other people are taking. For example immigrants some times don't want talk because they feel fear and their rights are violated their bosses are taking advantages for their fear. unfounded rumors can affect many people creating an atmosphere of fear and inequality.

in conclusion the society should be more aware when it comes to believing in unfounded rumor that some bad inadvertently affecting many people are creating discrimination and fear.
