blog3 : I KNOW THE TRUTH SO DON´T BOTHER ME WITH FACTS

Author Jeffrey Kluger, in "I Know the Truth so Don't Bother Me with Facts", has a deep meaning which clearly  [wordy and grammatically awkward] describes the humans weakness when it comes to the truth and lies. People are simply entertained by rumors,as the author is trying to tell us. How easily  people are manipulated by  different opinions that they hear or read.[this statement should be phrased as a question] The Ohio State  University  carried out a study on how people do not challenge  the false belief and how long it takes to believe in them. The professor R. Kelly Garrett and his assistant recruited 750 people where they present them [who believed] rumors about the Islamic Culture. Most of this people fell for these rumors in a heart beat. Even if they were faced to the facts, they were even less open to them. Why is it like this? I think people are closed minded and ignorant to the truth because fear of truth, ego or just simple laziness play a big role.

As an author Jeffrey Kluger already mentioned, in his article, this human weakness for rumors was presented on the planed mosque at the Grand Zero which never happened .It was just a big RUMOR which somebody let it out from their mouth. I can´t believe that these bad rumors spread like speed of light to people!! For humans it´s much easier to fall for these stupid rumors and spreading them among others, instead looking for the facts or the real truth. It´s human´s trait called laziness and comfort. [why start with the last reason? you are not following your own organization] Why should they worry, right? Until the rumor doesn't hit them, they don't see the need to make an effort to realize the truth from the lie. People can realize, only, how dangerous rumors could be when it comes one day to their life and can ruined everything they build.  For an example,  author J. Kluger describes in his article how Islamic culture was effected in the negative way by made up rumors after September 11th. Every Arabic or Islamic culture since this day became a big struggle in their life .Every day in every way was a big fight to survive. They lost jobs and for a long time it was a big problem to find any, nobody wanted to hire them. If they had businesses  people burned them out and ruined them. The air was filled of hatred and judgments. The whole world started to look down on them. I think people shouldn't judge the whole culture by the few individuals. They should face to the facts and start think different way.

In additional the J. Kluger´s article, there were done some studies, that even if the people were faced to the truth or facts they stubbornly stayed with  their beliefs. Few people had just fear of truth or their Ego doesn't let them break down the wall. Many times people seems to me like they are afraid of the facts or even if they know they are wrong they scared what the others will say if they would take the truth. They scared to stand out from crowd. Also sometimes to face the truth hearts, people don't like it, so in this case is better to believe in false. It´s comfortable and without pain. It is very interesting how rumors get us in different states of mind. [only arguments here; no examples]

In conclusion I do agree with J. Kluger, people are just so weak and indifferent. They are easy to manipulate but then it´s more difficult to turn them on the right way how to think correctly.People should care more how to discern the false information and what is truth. I think that if  they would devote more time to look for the truth then they would have different angle view of the world or cultures.

You have the general idea of what must be done, Lini ex. What we need to work on now:

1. Structure/Organization: this is the easiest part to get right quickly. Keep practicing thesis statements and then *stick to the order of your reasons.*

2. Signal/ introductory phrases. You are getting the grammar structure of these wrong. I want you to practice the following two types:

a) In his article X, Jeffrey Kluger reports/ explains/ argues/ points out
b) As Jeffrey Kluger reports/ explains/ argues/ points out

3. Wordiness. Please complete the exercise "Writing Concise Sentences" under the tab "Writing and Grammar Links" on teh Brave New World blog at http://bravenewworld099.blogspot.com/p/online-communities.html
